HAND PAINTED TILE AMERICAN FLAG CREATED BY KATHLEEN OF KATHLEEN'S GALLERY

Kathleen of Kathleen’s Gallery was commissioned to create a tile 3’x 5’ American flag to complement the entry tower of the newly constructed Polk County Republican Headquarters in Columbus, North Carolina. The challenge of creating an American flag, Kathleen stated was the layout on the tile and coursing out the stars and stripes. The hand painted masterpiece took over 3 weeks to complete. Her fine craftsmanship has added a unique and beautiful accent to the building and beautifully represents the flag of our great country. Kathleen attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida and began her career as an Artist Illustrator for an advertising agency. During lunch she would visit architects, builders and anyone else that utilized tile in their business to help her in her quest to launch her business creating hand painted tile.. With her interest and passion, she attended a tile conference in which she met the owner of Country Floors. He was impressed with Kathleen’s tile examples that she transported in an actual shoebox and she was hired at the conference. Kathleen has over 20 years of experience creating custom tiles. All items in her shop in Tryon, North Carolina are locally made and many are sold internationally. Other creations by Kathleen in the surrounding area include the tiles on the side of Foothills Realty recognizing donors to Phase 1 of the Street-scape Project for downtown Tryon, the Walker, Wallace & Emerson Real Estate sign and the Edward Jones sign in Landrum, South Carolina as well as many residential signs throughout the community.
