EARLY CLASSICAL REVIVAL
Early Classical Revival architecture was inspired by the buildings of Greece. These majestic structures exemplify simplicity, luxury and Southern tradition.The majority are usually rectangular in design, highlighted by a front porch with a gable supported by columns that extends to each level. Most Early Classical Revival homes incorporate a semi-circular window above the primary entrance which generally features a paneled door topped with a pediment. Double hung windows accompany full shutters on each level which usually consisted of 2 or 3 stories. Upon entrance, a hallway is central to the floor plan. The majority of these homes are constructed of wood, stone and brick and feature multiple fireplaces. These prominent homes built during the 1770’s-1850’s are among some of the most beautiful and elegant of Colonial house plan styles.
