RANCH STYLE HOMES

RANCH STYLE HOMES

Suited for the needs of the middle class, ranch style homes in America began construction in the early 1920’s in the western part of the country and are found throughout the states. The basic ranch style home exhibits an informal, casual and unpretentious lifestyle. Ranch houses generally feature low pitched gable roofs with wide overhang, large windows, and patio doors that easily transition to the outdoors. Floor plans may be rectangular, L-shaped or U- shaped in design and are usually one story. Today, many baby-boomers or individuals with health issues are popular with the ranch style house plan eliminating steps, therefore keeping all living areas on one level.
